Nova Sylva was started 32 years ago by Mike Tapley and has focused its business on providing a high quality, reliable ‘get it right first time’ service since 1992. Attention to detail, extensive experience, technical knowledge are combined with fully trained, long term staff to optimise the success of your project. The company recently underwent a change in ownership and was purchased by Charlie Brown. This was done with the intention of retaining those same values.

 

Charlie started his career with a Batchelor of Forestry Science from The University of Canterbury/ Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha. He then moved on to lead a local Silviculture crew. This was followed by a role as the Establishment Manager for one of the leading forest management companies in Aotearoa, specialising in Exotic and Native restoration projects and Maintenace. Under this company he personally oversaw the planting of over 2 Million seedlings across the South Island.

 

This unique path in the industry has given him experience allowing him to offer clients a service different from other contractors. As a Forest Manager he can give expert advice and consultation as to the planning of the forest and then with his experienced team ensure plans are adhered to and the goals achieved.
